OVERVIEW

The region, by far, offers the best fishing opportunities from Phuket. 16 NM west from the ranger station on Island 4 is the famed Don Mai seamount. Here the water rises from 200 m to around 75 m and is the best location to troll for Black Marlin. The seamount and FAD’s are also populated with large Wahoo and Dorado, Sailfish, GT and Yellow Fin and Skipjack Tuna.

Jigging around the FAD’s can also produce good results, as can night time bottom fishing for GT, Grouper, Snapper and a large number of other bottom fish. The drop off to the south East of Island 1 also produces good action with another possibility of catch Marlin.

If you’re a keen angler the opportunity to fish the arguably the best grounds in Asia should not be missed.

The Similan Islands are a protected National Park and it is illegal to fish within a 3 NM radius of the islands

DAY 1

08h30 ARRIVAL AT THE CHALONG PIER

09h00 DEPARTURE FOR THE SIMILAN ISLANDS
Depart for the Similan Islands and the fishing grounds. We will cruise out for the first 2 hours until we reach the continental shelf (Drop Off.) Here we will throw out the lines and begin fishing.

12h00 LUNCH
Lunch will be prepared and served as we continue to fish towards the Similans and the shelf close to Island 1.

17h30 ARRIVAL AT ISLAND 4
We will arrive to at Island 4, and find a mooring for the evening, and guests will have some time for a swim and snorkel and explore the islands

19h00 DINNER, FISHING OR RELAXING
Your evening meal will be prepared and served. After dinner guests have the option to head outside the National Park for some bottom fishing until 10pm or they can sit back and relax on board taking advantage of the onboard and entertainment system.

DAY 3

08h00 BREAKFAST
Breakfast is served on board.

08h30 DEPARTURE FOR THE DROP
Once breakfast is finished we head South East fishing back towards Phuket and the continental shelf.

11h00 TROLLING
Upon reaching the Drop we will troll up and down the shelf.

12h00 LUNCH
Lunch is prepared and served on board as we continue to fish

14h30 DEPARTURE TO CHALONG
We depart the drop off making our way back to Chalong, fishing as we go.

17h30 ARRIVAL AT CHALONG
Arrival back at Chalong pier, where the transfer van will be waiting to transport guests back to their accommodation.

DAY 2

08h00 BREAKFAST
Breakfast is served on board.

08h30 DEPARTURE FOR DON MAI SEAMOUNT
Once breakfast is finished we begin fishing for the second day. We will leave Island 4 and head 16 NM west to Don Mai Seamount.

09h30 ARRIVAL AT DON MAI SEA MOUNT AND FISHING
We will arrive at Don Mai Sea Mount, and will spend the day fishing around and over the seamount and FAD’s.

12h00 LUNCH
Lunch is prepared and served on board as we continue to fish around Don Mai.

15h30 DEPARTURE FROM DON MAI
We depart Don Mai, and back towards Island 4 to troll the shelf 5 NM offshore.

17h30 ARRIVAL AT ISLAND 4
Arrive back at Island 4 and moor up for the evening meal. Again another chance for guests to have a refreshing swim and venture on to the Island.

19h00 DINNER, FISHING OR RELAXING
Your evening meal will be prepared and served. After dinner guests have the option to head outside the National Park for some bottom fishing until 10pm or they can sit back and relax on board taking advantage of the onboard and entertainment system.
